In preparation for an event entitled Meanderings: Art and Music in the Park supported by Dover Arts Development and part of Art in the Park: Kearsney interpreted funded by the Arts Council England, I was approached by the highly intelligent and creative architect and lecturer, Gabor Stark. Gabor mentioned his latest work, a mobile installation Meander (Spiegel im Spiegel im Spiegel), made from painted timber and mirrored perspex, that explores different locations along the meandering culverts and ponds in the park. He asked me if I would write a string quartet to be performed around the pond into which Meander was to be placed.
Gabor explained his concept and how he had arrived at his chosen structure. This was the perfect inspiration for me.
Meanderings (2018) was performed by the Leon String Quartet as part of the event.
